The employees of the prosecutor’s office of Georgia received training on the topic of human trafficking and organized crime. This training was held under a European Union-funded project “Prometheus”.

The training session was attended by 15 members of the employees of the prosecutor’s office. There was a presentation on the display board to give detail on every aspect of organized crime and human trafficking. The significant meeting was addressed by the invited international expert French prosecutor Caroline Pariselli.

The training aimed to apprise the employees about the nature of the organized crime. These crimes are often committed by the groups of people who committed the crime with prior intention.

The 3-day specialized course was a combination of both theoretical and practical aspects. The key speaker of the meeting said that the role of enforcement agencies is very crucial in the present day when criminals are using the cyber and other latest technology-based weapons for executing their illegal plans.

The coordination among the investigation agencies at regional and international levels is also very important. Transnational crimes are very difficult to tackle due to the lack of territorial jurisdiction. However the agencies like Interpol can play an important role in the implementation of measures to reduce these crimes.

Human trafficking is one of the big problems the world is facing nowadays. Due to many regional or international disputes the the migration of the people towards a safer place is happening at a large level. The criminal groups are also active in exploiting these people who are in search of safer places.

The fight against trafficking and organized crime is a priority direction of the Prosecutor’s Office of Georgia and the qualification of representatives of the agency will be actively enhanced in the future. The office frequently holds many seminars and workshops for the upliftment of the skills of its employees.
