The Deputy Minister of Environment and Agriculture of Georgia, Lasha Dolidze, met with blueberry producers and importers on September 2, 2026, Wednesday.
The Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture of Georgia shared glimpses of the meeting on its official Facebook Page. The meeting aimed to summarize the results achieved at the end of the blueberry season, discuss field challenges, and outline future development prospects.
At the meeting, private-sector representatives assessed the season’s results and discussed current developments in crop production and exports. Special attention was paid to the impact of climate change on crop quality, price dynamics, logistical challenges, and the importance of diversifying export markets.
According to Lasha Dolidze, constant communication and cooperation between the state and farmers are important for the sustainable development of the sector, which ensures effective decision-making, taking into account the needs and challenges in the sector.
“The end of the blueberry season is a good opportunity to summarize the results and experiences gained, as well as listen to the opinions of farmers and sector representatives.”
According to him, it is important that this year there has been a significant increase in blueberry exports and export volume significantly exceeded last year’s indicator. In the future, meetings with the sector will be held regularly at the beginning, during, and at the end of the season.
“It’s important to use the experience of each season to overcome existing challenges and create conditions that enable farmers to further develop their production. Our goal is to promote production growth, quality improvement, and expansion of export markets based on constant communication and cooperation with the sector, which will, in the end, ensure stable and sustainable development of the sector,” said Deputy Minister Lasha Dolidze.
