The Minister of Regional Development of Georgia, Kakhaber Guledani, attended the discussion of strategic documents for long-term development of municipalities in the Imereti region.
Heads of regional municipalities presented projects for long-term development strategies at the meeting held at the Imereti State Commissioner’s administration. The mayors of the municipalities talked in detail about the long-term development vision, main goals, tasks, and priorities of each municipality.
The strategic documents prepared by municipalities place special emphasis on sustainable socio-economic development and maximizing local resources and potential. The priority areas include economic development, infrastructure improvement, health care, and social services improvement. In addition, the strategies include promoting education, culture, sport, and tourism developments, environmental protection and ecological conditions, developing modern waste management systems, and improving the quality of transport infrastructure and municipal services.
The projects of strategic documents presented by Imereti Region Municipalities are aimed at ensuring comprehensive and consistent development. Their primary goals are to strengthen economic sustainability, fully address local needs and citizen interests, and increase population welfare. The core needs and challenges of each municipality are identified, and the strategic advantages that will be undertaken to undertake the subsequent economic development of the municipalities.
The elaboration of a long-term development strategy in municipalities is carried out by the instruction of Prime Minister of Georgia Irakli Kobakhidze. The coordination of the process is implemented by the Ministry of Regional Development.
