The First Deputy Minister of State of Georgia on reconciliation and civil equality, Lia Gigaur, held meetings with the thematic working groups of the Governmental Commission on Civil Equality and Integration.
Lia Gigaur reviewed in detail the results of the implementation of the 2025 State Strategy for Civil Equality and Integration and the dynamics of progress within the framework of five strategic priorities:
- the state language to support integration
- access to quality education
- participation, social and economic integration
- women and youth Empowerment
- Intercultural Dialogue.
The Deputy Minister presented to the public the key insights and recommendations of the mid-term reviews of the ten-year strategy and independent expert research, which reaffirm the real possibility of achieving the 2030 goals of civil equality and integration through public policy.
The Deputy Minister of Culture Giorgi Mirtskulava presented the main aspects of intercultural dialogue, plans, and answered questions asked by the public on actual issues.
The meeting also introduced the new requirements for the monitoring and accounting tool. During the discussion, the issues that require further effort were discussed in depth. Participants agreed on key principles to be considered in the process of formulating the state strategy 2027-2028 action plan, which will begin in June this year. Special attention was given to improving the effectiveness of consultative mechanisms and the importance of active involvement of stakeholders in the policy implementation process.
The working meeting was attended by representatives of relevant state agencies implementing the strategy, members of the Council of Ethnic Minorities with the Ombudsman of Georgia, representatives of academic circles, and experts in the field. The meeting was held in an interactive format.
The thematic working group is functioning within the Governmental Commission on Civil Equality and Integration and aims to promote the implementation of the State Strategy for Civil Equality and Integration and the Action Plan 2021-2030.
