Tbilisi, Georgia: The Temporary Committee for Rehabilitation of Gelati presented the report of activities for the year 2023-2025 at the international conference held in Tbilisi.
The Ministry of Culture of Georgia shared glimpses of the event on its official Facebook page on June 20, 2025, Friday. The Ministry also shared a small note about the event along with its photographs.
According to the small note shared by the Georgian, Culture Ministry, it should be noted that the two-year report includes:
- the draft of the updated management plan for the Gelati Monastery’s World Heritage Site,
- the temporary closure of the Gelati Notre Dame Church and the construction of the cathedral,
- the geology of the Monastery area,
- the conservation of the monastery complex architecture,
- the wall of the Notre Dame Cathedral Issues of painting and mosaic, Gelati Monastery to the master plan.
The conference was opened and addressed to the attendees by the founder of the Patriarchal Throne, Metropolitan of Senaki and Chkhorotsku, Chairman of the Temporary Committee for Rehabilitation of Gelati, Bishop Shio (Mujiri), Minister of Culture of Georgia Tinatin Rukhadze, Director General of the National Museum, Secretary of the National Scientific Council David Lortkipanidze, Secretary of the International Council of Advisors Gerhard Wolf and Com To ITET National Scientific and International Council of Advisors On the other side of the representatives.
Notably, the Minister of Culture, Tinatin Rukhadze said in his speech that the Temporary Committee for Rehabilitation of Gelati, led by Bishop Shio, with the involvement of Father Kirioni, David Lortkipanidze, and the International Scientific Society, has done invaluable work.
The Minister of Culture thanked Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze, the Government of Georgia, the Patriarchate, and personally the Catholic Patriarch of Georgia, as well as the parties involved in the process of rehabilitation of Gelati.

The conference was attended by Georgian Deputy Minister of Culture Giorgi Mirtschulava, Head of the National Agency for Protection of Cultural Heritage Tea Oniani, Georgian and foreign experts, the Georgian Patriarchate, and representatives of scientific circles.
