Tbilisi: The Republic of Georgia joined the European Political Community Summit Declaration on Thursday. The significant development came at the beginning of the fourth session of the summit at Blenheim Palace in the United Kingdom.

The declaration joined by Georgia includes many aspects of regional and international importance. The issues of  European security, energy security, and connectivity are the central concerns under the declaration.

Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze also shared information about the declaration joining. The declaration document has the direct or indirect support of more than fifty countries worldwide.  The document’s content focuses on the Russian “shadow fleet” and the threats arising from it that may disturb the region.

As per the declaration  the member countries of the European Political Community face the grave challenges of foreign interference and manipulation of information. The document further calls for strengthening the fast and effective coordination between European states to address these emerging challenges.

At the same time the declaration highlights Moldova’s and France’s proposals. These two countries’ proposals aimed to establish a network of the European political Union to counter foreign interference and disinformation manipulation.

It is worth mentioning that “The  important declaration includes the proposal of  the Georgian Government targeted to make the  regional ties of the Black and Caspian Seas states stronger.”

As per the Georgian proposal  the countries located in the regions of the Northern and Baltic Seas of the European political community, as well as Ukraine, Azerbaijan, Georgia, Romania, Bulgaria, and Turkey, have to make efforts to hold the “technical dialogues”  supporting the regional energy ties.

The international law experts familiar with Geopolitics added that “the main tool of the technical dialogues, as per the Georgian proposal  would be sharing the experience, resources, knowledge and expertise” of the participant countries.  This knowledge sharing will be based on practical experience to solve the  “challenges” creating hurdles for regional energy connections and clean energy production.

Meanwhile many social media users reacted to the Prime Minister’s Facebook post. They wished the Prime Minister good luck for a  successful visit to the UK to attend the European Political Community Summit 2024.
