The Memorandum of Cooperation was signed between the National Environment Agency of the Ministry of Environment and Agriculture, the Center for Environmental Information and Education, and the Association of Environmental Governors of Georgia.
The LEPL National Environmental Agency of Georgia shared glimpses of the memorandum-signing ceremony on its official Facebook Page on Thursday, August 6, 2026. The Agency also shared a small note about the meeting along with its glimpses.
The document aims to promote access to environmental information, enhance professional knowledge, and promote effective implementation of environmental legislation in practice.
Within the framework of the cooperation, joint educational and professional programs, trainings, work meetings, forums, and other activities will be implemented. Special focus will be given to developing environmental managers’ professional knowledge and skills, promoting their continuous professional development, identifying challenges and systemic issues in applying environmental legislation, sharing experiences and best practices, and developing relevant recommendations.
“For the effective implementation of environmental policies, a close connection of legislation, professional knowledge and practice is necessary. “It is especially important for us to strengthen cooperation with the professional sector and with the people who ensure that environmental demands are implemented every day,” said Elene Ghubianuri, the head of the National Environment Agency.
According to Tamta Devdariani, Director of the Environmental Information and Education Center, environmental information and education play an important role in raising the responsibility of citizens, as well as in making the right decisions of business and professional sectors.
“Our goal is to make environmental information not only accessible, but also practical and usable. This memorandum strengthens collaboration with the professional community working daily to implement environmental legislation and requirements in practice. Strengthening the knowledge and professional capabilities of environmental managers is an important prerequisite for effective implementation of environmental demands,” said Tamta Devdariani.
The parties within the memorandum will also promote the strengthening of cooperation and coordination between the public and private sectors and professional communities.
