Georgia: With the support of the “Georgian Green Movement / Friends of the Earth-Georgia” and the Ministry of Environment and Agriculture, the awarding event of the winners of the contest “Clean Region 2021” was held.
The award ceremony was attended by Deputy Minister of Environment and Agriculture Solomon Pavliashvili, Chairman of the Committee for Environment and Natural Resources Maia Bitadze and Head of the Swedish Development Agency, Eric Iles.
“A very important competition “Clean Region”, whose main purpose, in general, is to raise awareness about waste management and also to reduce natural waste and environmental pollution. Clean street and clean region mean clean country”, – noted Deputy Minister of Environment and Agriculture, Solomon Pavliashvili.
This year, the competition “Clean Region” award event was celebrated for the sixth time.
The winners of the 2021 “Clean Region” competition are:
- “Clean Region” – Kakheti Region
- “Pure Municipality” – Municipality of Zugdidi
- “Clean City” – city. Lagodekhi
- “Pure Daba” – Daba Mestia
- “Clean Village” – Village in Chkadua (Municipality of Zugdidi)
- “Beautiful Yard” – Besik Pertaia’s yard (village Tsai)
- “Beautiful Yard” (Organization) – Wine Company LLC “Wineoba Annunciation.”
- “Clean Street” – Merab Kostava Street, Bolnis Municipality
By the decision of the Competition Commission, the certificates were handed over:
- Mtskheta-Mtianeti and Lagodekhi municipalities – for their contribution to the improvement of waste management system
- “Beautiful Yard” – Company “Shumi”
- “Beautiful Yard” – Nunu Kardakhelashvili’s Yard (Village Numisi, Gurjaani Municipality)
- “Beautiful yard” – Boris Papascua’s yard (city) Potty)
- “Clean/Beautiful Street” – Bidzina Cholokashvili Street (Akhmeti Municipality)
