Georgia: The Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development, Mariam Kvrivishvili, met the Ambassador of the Republic of Korea to Georgia, Hyondu Kim.
The Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia shared the glimpses of the meeting on its official Facebook Page on October 7, 2025. The Ministry also shared a small note about the meeting along with its glimpses.
The meeting discussed the priority areas of trade-economic relations between Georgia and the Republic of Korea, including focusing on sectors such as trade, investment, civil aviation, transport, tourism, energy, and others.
The minister praised the successful completion of negotiations with the Korean side on the text of the Economic Partnership Agreement (EPA). It was noted that the agreement will be signed after the completion of internal state procedures.
According to the small note shared by the Georgian Ministry, it should be noted that the discussion also touched upon the ongoing negotiations on the investment incentive and mutual protection agreement.
As mentioned at the meeting, the Republic of Korea Trade and Investment Promotion Agency (KOTRA) office will be opened in Tbilisi on November 19, which will promote cooperation between the two countries to promote trade and investment.
The minister also drew attention to the importance of starting direct flights between Georgia and the Republic of Korea. It was noted that the performance of charter flights in recent years has contributed to the growth of tourist flows – the number of visitors from the Republic of Korea increased by 79 percent in 2024 and in the two quarters of 2025, by 15 percent.
The meeting was attended by Deputy Minister Inga Pkhaladze and Head of the Ministry of Trade Development and International Economic Relations Department Givi Zedelashvili.
