Tbilisi: The Ministry of Sports and culture of the Republic of Georgia extended its condolences on the death of Georgian referee David Berekashvili. They also sympathise with the family member of deceased referee David Berekashvili.
The official of the Ministry of Sports and culture also recalled his great contribution to the sports of the country. The Ministry of Culture took to its social media handles and stated, “ The Ministry of Sports expresses its grief over the death of Georgian referee David Berekashvili, David Berekashvili was an internationally class-honoured referee who served Georgian basketball for years.
“It is noteworthy that he has failed several times in the final stage of the European Championship. His death at the age of 50 is a special loss for the whole country. Georgian Ministry of Culture and Sports expresses its sorrow over the death of David Berekashvili and sends condolences to his family, friends and relatives” post added.
David Berekashvili was a world-famous referee who has also trained some junior Georgian teams, due to which they have won many national, regional and international tournaments. Meanwhile, many social media user also expressed their deep condolences to the family on the death of David Berekashvili.
Shorena Oniani, while posting the images of the referee, stated, “David, we will never believe your departure from this world.The most positive, cheerful, roxrokha, loving great man, you will always be in our hearts with us”.
Girshel Berdzull also posted the image of the referee and wrote, “Come on, break; this is an incredible story to tell.It is really priceless what you have done for Georgian basketball.. You couldn’t have left this world so soon. My condolences to the family, friends and the whole Georgian basketball family for the sudden death of Dato”.
A large number of users reacted to the post of Girshel Berdzull. Giorgi Goglidze commented that “May the Lord lighten his soul; it is very sad!”. Mart Uuehendrik commented, “Rest in peace, my dear friend, Legend of the Georgian Basketball, legendary FIBA referee, Man with a Big heart. Just a very good human Being!”.
