Georgia: The delegation of the Georgian Scientific Research Center of Agriculture (SRCA) of Vineyard and Winemaking Sciences of Rioja visited the base of Jighaura on Tuesday.
The Scientific Research Center of Agriculture (SRCA) shared glimpses of their visit on its official Facebook page on June 17, 2025, Wednesday. The SRCA also shared the details of their meeting along with its photographs.
According to the details shared by the Scientific Research Centre, it should be noted that a 25-member delegation of the Vineyard and Winemaking Science Research Center visited the Jighaura base of the SCP Agricultural Scientific-Research Center in Rioja, Spain.
The Delegation by Professor Jose M. Martinez Zapateri was in charge. The group consisted of vineyard and winery specialists, including vinegrowers, winemakers, researchers, consultants, and representatives from the phytosanitary field.
Professor Levan Ujmajuridze, Director of the Agricultural Scientific-Research Center, introduced to the guests in detail the main directions of the Center’s scientific research and practical activities. The members of the delegation visited the collection of grapes, wine, and wine museum space.
The parties discussed and exchanged information on research projects, including the unique genetic resources of grape varieties, modern approaches to certified fertilizer production, adapted approaches to climate change, and integrated as well as organic approaches to combating pest diseases.
During the visit, a wine tasting was also held, led by David Chichua, Head of the Vineyard-Winemaking Service. Guests had the opportunity to taste wines made from rare Georgian grape varieties produced by the Center and to get acquainted with the technological processes of setting and customizing wine in Georgian style in Kevri.
The visit turned out to be an important platform for sharing knowledge and practical experience for both the Georgian and Spanish sides and created the basis for future professional cooperation.
