Georgia: TAFU University celebrates birth anniversary of Gogi Dolidze

Shota Rustaveli Theatre and Film Georgia State University (TAFU) celebrated the 90th Birth Anniversary of the Gogi Dolidze by organising an impressive event.

Shota Rustaveli Theatre and Film Georgia State University (TAFU) celebrated the 90th Birth Anniversary of the Gogi Dolidze. Gogi Dolidze is a famous Georgian film expert who made a great contribution to the Georgian music industry.

There was an event dedicated to the 90th anniversary of Gogi Dolidze was held at Shota Rustaveli Theatre and Film Georgia State University (TAFU). Deputy Minister of Culture and Sports of Georgia Koba Khubunaia attended the event.

On this occasion, Gogi Dolidze’s former students, colleagues, friends, filmmakers, and theater representatives participated in the event. They talked about his work and appreciated his contribution to the film and music industry as well.

Similarly the Rector of the University of Theater and Cinema Giorgi Shalutashvili along with Chancellor Giorgi Kharebava, theater expert Maka Vasadze producer Khatuna Khundadze, and others remember the contribution of the film industry pioneer.

The attendees of the event also saw Tsutsunava’s first Georgian comedy “Khanuma” (1926), which was restored by Gogi Dolidze in 1981. Rector of the University of Theater and Cinema Giorgi Shalutashvili honored Gogi Dolidze with the Golden Jubilee Medal of Theater and Cinema University. This medal is awarded every year by the university to people distinguished for special efforts made to make the university proud.

It is to be specifically mentioned that Gogi Dolidze was active in publishing and academic spheres for many years. He is also the author of many critical letters and several monographs about the history of Georgia cinema.

The Ministry of culture and Sports on their official page posted the work contributions of the Gogi Dolidze “These include “Mayakovsky and Cinema” (1968), “Georgian Soviet Cinematography” (1972), “Conversations about Cinema” (K. Gogodze’s and v. Together with Bakhtadze), “Levan Khotivari” (1978), “Georgian Cinema” (1979), “Georgians Cinema Yesterday and Today” (1985), “Vasil Amashukeli” (R. With Chkheidze) and others”.

He also taught from 1969 teaching and scientific activity at Shota Rustaveli Theater and Cinema University. At the same time he worked on administrative positions like the dean of the Faculty of Cinema, University’s Pro-Chancellor

Gogi Dolidze was also a member of the Union of Journalists, cinematographers, and theater professionals. The event was attended by a large number of people who personally congratulated him. The social media user also extended their warm best wishes to him and wished him a long happy life ahead.
