Tbilisi, Georgia: A meeting was held with the staff of the National Museum in the Ministry of Culture of Georgia. The main aim was to plan to expand the National Museum by adding the ONI, Mtskheta, and Stepantsminda museums to create a unified national museum network.
The Ministry of Culture of Georgia shared the glimpses of the meeting on its official Facebook page on July 4, 2025, 2025, Friday. The Ministry also shared a small note about discussions held at the meeting along with its photographs.
According to the Minister of Culture Tinatin Rukhadze, within the framework of the development process of museums, the National Museum, which is the largest museum union in Georgia, will soon be joined by the ONI Museum of Political Science, Mtskhei, and Stefantsminda Museums. Museum foundations will be united throughout Georgia, which will be taken care of by the Unified Scientific Institution.
Tinatin Rukhadze focused attention on strengthening scientific work in the field of museums and the need to involve young scientists. She also stated that it is important for the State to promote scientific work in terms of heritage preservation and development. Museums have their agenda.
According to her, the Georgian Ministry of Culture has had very good practice for years. Scientific grants will be announced, and projects will be financed. “We need to raise a new generation so that we don’t have to stop developing properly. It is connected to you that healthy ambition, to help you make more scientific discoveries,” added Tinatin Rukhadze.
As noted at the meeting, together with the Ministry of Environment and Agriculture and the National Wine Agency, the plan is to create a wine museum, which already has a scientific vision.
Deputy Minister of Culture Beka Davituliani and Giorgi Mirtschulava, General Director of the National Museum David Lortkipanidze attended the meeting.
