The Georgian Minister of Education, Science and Youth, Givi Mikanadze, met in Georgia with the Deputy Executive Director of the British Council, Kate Ewart-Biggs, and the Deputy Head of Mission at the British Embassy, Sharmian Liver.
The Ministry of Education, Science and Youth of Georgia shared glimpses of the meeting on its official Facebook Page on Wednesday, October 7, 2026. The Georgian Ministry also shared a brief note about the discussions held at the meeting along with the highlights.
At the meeting, the parties discussed the current cooperation between Georgia and the UK in the fields of education and science and discussed opportunities for future partnerships.
Givi Mikanadze highlighted the important role of the British Council as a long-standing partner of the Ministry Education, Science and Youth of Georgia. He focused attention on English language teaching, teacher professional development, transnational education and higher education internationalisation.
Stakeholders have positively assessed the ongoing project Future English for Teachers’ Professional Development. It indirectly promotes strengthening teachers’ professional skills and the implementation of modern teaching methods.
One of the main issues of the meeting was cooperation in the field of transnational education (TNE). And another main topic was about the development of partnerships between Georgia and the UK higher education institutions.
At the end of the meeting, the parties reaffirmed their readiness to continue cooperation and implement new joint initiatives in the fields of education and science.
