The Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia, Mariam Kvrivishvili, met the UN Permanent Coordinator in Georgia, Didie Tgebiuki.
The Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia shared the glimpses of the meeting on its official Facebook Page on January 28, 2026. The Georgian Ministry also shared a small note about the meeting along with its glimpses.
The parties discussed priority areas for cooperation, including inclusive economic growth, green energy, energy efficiency, digital transformation, transport, logistics, as well as sustainable tourism and education.
Special attention was paid to the priorities set out in the framework program of cooperation with the UN. In particular, the discussion was held on more effective relations with different agencies of the organization to accelerate economic growth. Special attention was paid to the involvement of the UN in the middle corridor and, in general, the development of the transport and logistics infrastructure of the country.
At the meeting, the Georgian side provided detailed information to the UN Permanent Coordinator about the projects that are being implemented in the country in terms of developing both existing infrastructure and new opportunities. Among them, emphasis was placed on Anaklia deepwater port, the railway modernization project, the east-west highway, and others.
The parties also discussed cooperation with the UN in the green energy sector. Special emphasis was placed on developing new technologies in the field, including green hydrogen production, installation of electricity storage battery systems, and other priority areas. The development of the green energy transmission project, through which the South Caucasus electricity system will be connected to the EU through Georgia, is strategically important for all parties involved in the project.
At the meeting, the discussion was held on deepening cooperation with the UN Sustainable Development Goals. The Deputy Ministers Genadi Arveladze and Tamar Ioseliani attended the meeting.
