Georgia–US hold Energy Security Talks

The Deputy Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia, Inga Pkhaladze, met with Tommy Joyce, Acting Assistant to the Secretary of Energy in International Relations.

The Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia shared the glimpses of the meeting on its Official Facebook Page on November 6, 2025, Thursday. The Ministry also shared some information related to the meeting, along with its glimpses.

According to the information shared by the Ministry, it should be noted that the meeting was held in Athens, Greece, within the framework of the 6th Ministerial of Partnership for Transatlantic Energy Cooperation (P-TEC).

The meeting discussed the issues of potential cooperation between Georgia and the USA in the region and global energy security assurance.

The Deputy Minister spoke in detail about the developments in Georgia’s energy sector, major energy infrastructure projects, and other topical issues.

The parties paid special attention to energy security issues arising from ongoing processes in the Eurasian space. It was noted that Georgia is a reliable partner of regional energy projects, which provides the transport of South Caucasus energy resources, for example, oil and gas, to EU markets. He also emphasized the development of the Green Energy Corridor in Georgia, as one of the central participants of the country, and the leading role of this route.

“We are also actively involved in the development of the green energy corridor, which will contribute to strengthening energy security in both Europe and the South Caucasus region,” noted Inga Pkhaladze.

At the meeting, the parties also talked about the possibilities of implementing innovative energy technologies in Georgia and further development of energy infrastructure.

The meeting was also attended by

  • Ekaterine Sisauri, Director General of the Oil and Gas Corporation of Georgia,
  • Zviad Gachechiladze, Member of the Board of Directors of the State Electricity System of Georgia,
  • Aleksandre Sokhadze, Head of the Energy Policy and Investment Projects Department of the Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development,
  • Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy Policy and Sustainable Development Omar Tsereteli,
  • Deputy Head of the Vitarebi Department and Georgia Ambassador to Greece, Levan Beridze.
