Gia Volski, the vice-speaker of the Georgian Parliament has once again launched a fierce attack on opposition parties.

He claimed that the opposition parties of Georgia are using illegal money from call centres to destabilize the Georgian government.

It is worth noting that a few months ago, there were large-scale protests against the adopting the foreign agent’s law.

At that timevthe opposition parties demanded the repeal of the law due to the potential threat it may pose to independent media in Georgia.

Vice speaker added, It is unfortunate that opposition parties are using illegal funds to support their funding. The money obtained by the Georgian call center is unlawful and results from transnational crime.

It is worth noting that the Investigative Service of the Ministry of Finance of Georgia carried out a search operation a day ago on three call centers in the capital, Tbilisi. All these centres were suspected of transnational crime.

The search operations were conducted after the reports that these call centers are using illegal methods for fraudulent schemes and money laundering, which later on is diverted to opposition parties for funding their illegal anti-national propaganda.

The official conducted the search at the flats of Sopo Gelava and Eto Buziashvili. The officials also searched the United States-based Atlantic Council research center in conjunction with the Concentrix office for an effective result.

However, the body has not disclosed the specific company’s name. The legal experts and lawyers of the investigation service confirmed that the search was conducted on suspicion of money laundering, fraud and tax evasion.

They  made it clear that the computers and other devices were also seized at the time of the search operation.

Volski’s comment also recalled the report of the British Broadcasting Corporation released in 2023.

The report indicated that former Defence Minister David Kezerashvili was linked to “call center” operations that have been operating to extract money from people in Europe and many other countries by offering them fake investment opportunities.
