The Georgian athletes won seven medals on the first day of the European Youth Contact Karate Championship, which was held on Saturday.
The Ministry of Sport of Georgia shared glimpses of the athletes on its official Facebook Page on Saturday, October 3, 2026. The Ministry also shared a small note about the European Youth Contact Karate Championship along with the highlights.
European Youth Championship in Contact Karate is being held in Latvia’s capital, Riga. On the first competition day of the continental championship, U16 athletes competed. The Georgian national team earned, in total seven – 2 gold, 2 silver, and 3 bronze.
In girls, Anamaria Mkhaladze (-60 kg) won the European Champion’s gold medal for the first time during her career, and Lizi Jincharadze (-50 kg) became a bronze medalist.
Georgian final was held in the boys -50 kg category, during which Eduard Zaduriani won the gold medal, who won the championship in doubles – Georgia’s champion, added a bronze medal to the form of complex training. And Demetre Kacharava became the silver medal winner. Giorgi Gvianidze (-55 kg) also became a silver medalist, and Arthur Arutuniani (-65 kg) won a bronze medal.
On October 4, young people up to U21 will participate in the competition at the “Daugava” sports complex arena in Riga. At the end of the European Championship, on the day of the competition, the winner of the title of absolute champion of Europe will also be known: two sportsmen on behalf of Georgia – David Mskhaladze and Data Putkaradze – will fight.
More than 500 athletes from 25 countries are participating in the championship of the continent.
