A working meeting was recently held with the newly elected members of the educational programs accreditation council of Georgia. This meeting was organized by the higher education quality service of the National Centre for the Development of Quality of Education.
The meeting was attended by the First Deputy Minister of Education, Science and Youth of Georgia Alexander Tsuladze as well as the Acting Director of the National Center for Development of Quality of Education Lasha Margishvili. Both have congratulated the members of the Council for being elected to this responsible position and wished them success in their future work.
The newly elected Council for Accreditation of Educational Programs consists of 18 members who are expert academics and also include the administrative staff, employers and students of higher educational institutions operating in Georgia.
The Georgian Board of Education Programs is a collegiate body that makes decisions regarding the country’s accreditation of higher education programs. According to the cluster accreditation model the various educational programs are grouped according to study area. Moreover the period for evaluating educational programs in business and administration is set to be 2024.
At the working meeting the participants also discussed the main principles of the Council’s activities and technical and administrative details related to its organisation. They also agreed to take measures to boost the council’s workings.
On this occasion the Higher Education Quality Assurance Service employees reviewed the cluster accreditation model of educational programs implemented in the year 2022.
Similarly the representatives of this service also presented presentations to board members on standards for accreditation of educational programs, approaches used in the assessment process, specifics of educational programs structure and content formation, characteristics of learning goals and outcomes, approaches used in evaluating student learning outcomes, separate curriculum Practical approaches to determining credits, national qualification framework etc.
At the end of the working meeting, the participants summarised all the essential aspects that require the Accreditation Board’s attention and focused on the goals of developing the quality of education in all the regions of the Republic of Georgia.
