Georgia: The Finance Minister of Georgia, Lasha Khutsishvili, and National Bank President Natia Turnava met Antonella Basani, Vice President of the World Bank in Europe and Central Asia.
The Meeting was held on October 15, 2025, on Wednesday, during the annual meetings of the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank.
The Ministry of Finance of Georgia shared the glimpses of the meeting on its official Facebook Page on October 15, 2025, Wednesday. The Georgian Ministry also shared some information about the discussions held at the meeting, along with its glimpses.
During the discussion, the parties emphasized the importance of strengthening cooperation between Georgia and the World Bank in key areas such as infrastructure, energy, and social development. They also underlined the need to enhance private sector competitiveness and support innovation-driven growth.
The parties reviewed ongoing and planned projects supported by the World Bank in the public and private sectors of the country, such as road infrastructure development and connectivity promotion, human capital strengthening, etc.
The Minister of Finance introduced the World Bank Vice President to the current macroeconomic situation and medium-term forecasts. As it is known, recently, the World Bank increased the forecast of economic growth of Georgia to 7%.
The Bank’s Vice President stressed the importance of cooperation with Georgia and expressed hope that the projects supported by the Bank will contribute to the sustainable development of the country’s economy.
The meeting was attended by World Bank Regional Director in the South Caucasus Roland Price, Deputy Minister of Finance Ekaterine Guntsadze, Deputy Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development Vakhtang Tsintsadze, and Ambassador of Georgia to the United States Tamar Taliashvili.
