The Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia, Mariam Kvrivishvili, met with the Regional Director for Infrastructure of the World Bank Europe and Central Asia, Charles Cormier, and the Regional Director for the South Caucasus of the World Bank, Roland Price.
It is worth noting that the parties discussed cooperation issues, including current and future joint projects.

The meeting discussed several main areas, with special attention to cooperation in the transport sector, which, among other important issues, involves promoting the development of the middle corridor, digitizing the transport corridor, and important reforms being implemented with direct support of the World Bank.
Participants of the meeting discussed investments in Georgia’s transport infrastructure, with special focus on the Anaklia Deepwater Port Project. Â
The Georgian side shared information with World Bank representatives about the progress of the project, the investments implemented, and the results achieved by the development of the port, which aims to increase the annual total capacity of the Georgian port by at least 600 thousand containers. The parties also talked about the construction of the railway and motorway to the Anaklia port.
One of the important issues that the participants of the meeting also discussed was the progress of the Black Sea submarine cable project. The Georgian side highlighted the active work and progress made within the project, including the support of the World Bank, and discussed details related to the Black Sea bottom survey and prospects for developing cooperation with the Romanian side within the framework of the status of bilateral interests.
The meeting was attended by the Deputy Ministers of Economy and Sustainable Development – Tamar Ioselian, Inga Pkhaladze, and Vakhtang Tsintsadze, as well as representatives of the World Bank’s Sustainable Development and Infrastructure Program, Transport and Multimodal Logistics.
