Tbilisi: The parking fines at the Tbilisi City Hall that had been introduced earlier in July have been temporarily suspended owing to the ongoing updation of the municipal electronic system. The new electronic system would allow companies and individuals to benefit from several services, all from a single account.

As per the city authorities, the newly developed system would provide parking, taxi, an online application portal and other services to users who would need to only use a single account for the aforementioned purposes.

Along with the development of the new system, it also stated that technical errors had been identified due to the reform and offered a grace period to continue using the metered parking system.

The City hall shall be announcing the completion of updates within due time. The users will be notified about the end of this grace period. For the convenience of the citizens, the Body has issued Municipal Services Development Agency hotline number 1399 if required.

 The previous fine structures

Earlier in July, the penalties were made stricter by the mayor of Tbilisi, Kahka Kaladze. The mayor introduced various reforms in transport policy, which included the following reforms:

– The penalties for vehicles parked in slots designated for A category taxis had increased to 50 GEL from 10 GEL.

– Similarly, the vehicles parked in designated places for electric vehicles would be obliged to pay 50GEL instead of 10GEL.

– Fines increased to 100 GEL from 50 GEL for parking vehicles ‘for months’ in certain parking areas across the city; in case of repeated violations, fines could be doubled to become 200 GEL

– Drivers could leave vehicles on the road for only three months; in case of parking for more time, the owner of the car was supposed to be fined 50 GEL.

While the systems have been undergoing the process of updations, these penalties have been temporarily out of effect.
