Tbilisi: City hall building host conference on Diabetes Day

In connection with World Diabetes Day in Georgia, a  dedicated conference was held in the building of the Sakrebulo. It was attended by a large number of people. The conference aimed to Create awareness about Diabetes. Diabetes day is celebrated every year on the 14th of November.

The conference on Diabetes was chaired by Ramaz Kurashvili, who is the chairman of the Medical Academic Education League of Georgia and also a member of the International Diabetes Federation.

It is to be specifically mentioned that the theme of this year’s World Diabetes Day was “Know your risk, know what to do in response!”. According to Ramaz Kurashvili, this topic is of special importance because it includes not only medical treatment but also education, social aspects and community support to overcome the side effects attached to this deadly disease.

It is worth mentioning that the participants of the conference discussed the basic principles of diabetes prevention measures suggested by the World Health Organization
The conference also talked about the messages of public health policy and lifestyle changes
Possible. The medical study also suggested that lifestyle changes can help to prevent the disease.

The Chairman of the City Council, Giorgi Tkemaladze, also addressed the attending public with a welcoming speech and mentioned that Diabetes is one of the most common and major disease worldwide at present time and that holding similar events helps to raise awareness about Diabetes.

He thanked the doctors: “I want to express my gratitude and also like to thank the representatives of the medical field, who provide high-quality medical services and a caring environment for people with diabetes.”

According to him, the state diabetes management programs will provide all the required services to patients as much as possible. They will continue to actively work for the availability and expansion of the state diabetes management mechanism.

The event was attended by members of the Tbilisi City Council, Parliament and the Government of Georgia, representatives of the medical field, and people with Diabetes who participated in the conference with their family members.
