Nino Tandilashvili meets representatives of USAID

Georgian First Deputy Minister of Environment and Agriculture Nino Tandilashvili met the representatives of the United States AID (Agency). The meeting of Nino Tandilashvili held a meeting with Michelle Kosielksi, head of the Economic Growth Program of USAID. The meeting discussed the joint projects and prospects for future cooperation in the field of environment and agriculture.

Tbilisi: Georgian First Deputy Minister of Environment and Agriculture Nino Tandilashvili met the representatives of the United States AID (Agency). The meeting of Nino Tandilashvili held a meeting with Michelle Kosielksi, head of the Economic Growth Program of USAID. The meeting discussed the joint projects and prospects for future cooperation in the field of environment and agriculture. 

Speaking on the occasion, Nino Tandilashvili said that “We are in the process of implementing the large number of projects aimed to develop the agriculture sector of Georgia. Moreover we are also supporting the projects that will help local farmers and efforts towards the protection of environment”.

Water resources management is our top priority, added the minister.

It is to be specifically mentioned that the Government is working very seriously at the sector level to fulfil the obligation under the contract of association as per the information provided by Minister Nino Tandilashvili.

Meanwhile, USAID economic growth program head, Michelle Kosielksi, said that the program is focused on regional tourism and water projects. Head also said that the USAID agency is actively working in this direction. 

It was noted during the meeting that the regional Water Project will promote the effective management of water resources as well as effective cross-border cooperation in the region of the South Caucasus.

The meeting was also attended by Nino Tkhilava, who is head of the Department of Environment and Climate Change under the head of Environmental and Agriculture, representatives of the relevant services of the ministry along with David Tsiklauri, Jordi Ariman, the regional water program manager, and Gocha Lobzhanidze environmental protection officer. 

 Representatives of both sides express their readiness to enhance the cooperation for the development of the Environment protection program and the adoption of innovative strategies with the aim of better water management.

USAID agency and its representatives said that the agency will initiate more environmentally friendly programs in Georgia. The agency also vowed to help the local administration units like municipalities for better coordination on environmental protection and for the adaptation of sustainable agriculture practices as well.

Georgian Minister Thanked the agency and Its present representative for their unwavering support for Georgia’s Government and its agencies.
