Thea Tsulukiani donated traditional stage clothes to ensemble “Erosion”

The Georgian Ministry of Culture and Sports presented traditional stage clothes to Georgian Folk Song and Dance State Academic Ensemble "Erision".

Georgia: The Georgian Ministry of Culture and Sports, Thea Tsulukiani presented traditional stage clothes to Georgian Folk Song and Dance State Academic Ensemble “Erision”.

The ensemble was given 18 dance “Mtiuluri” stage dress sets, for which the Ministry of Culture allocated 16 182 GEL—the tender-selected company “Pafanak” sewn new stage clothes.

Georgian State Academic Song and Dance Ensemble “Erisioni” was created in 1885 and entered the third century, so it is even called the Ensemble Museum.

Over the years, erosion has surprised many countries of the world. His two-hour program is exceptional, as it presents unique Georgian folk songs and dances with costumes characteristic of each corner of Georgia, the national spirit, and Georgian ethnographic peculiarities.

In 2002, in Paris, “Erision” was awarded a golden disk. Also, the company Universal has selected and published records of the best performers in the world—Monserrat Caballie, Freddie Mercury, Andrea Bocelli, Luciano Pavarotti, Sarah Britman, Jose Carreras, Placido Domingo, Maria Calas, and others. Among them is the ensemble “Samaia” (“Shatili’s daughter”) performed by the ensemble “Erisioni” from the program show “Georgian Legend.”

The ensemble’s international achievements are unprecedented in the history of Georgian culture. In 1977, along with several world-famous musical masterpieces, “Chakrulo” and “Erision” soloists Rostom Saginashvili and Ilia Zakaidze performed.

It is worth noting that the rehabilitation of the state-owned building for ensemble “Erision” in 2021 is underway with the support of the Ministry of Culture. After this, the proper building equipment will begin step by step.

In 2022, the Ministry of Culture was gifted 61 units of traditional stage clothes, in particular, 15 dresses for “Osuri” dancers, 28 chokha for “Khevsuruli” dancers and 18 chokha-khalukhi singers.

For your information, the lack of proper quality, custom sketches of traditional stage clothing is one of the challenges facing state and private folk ensembles.

It had been about 15 years since the state had not purchased new clothes for their ensembles. That is why the Ministry of Culture allocated 197 999 GEL in December 2021 and announced the first tender.

The Ministry has started to fulfil the conditions set out in the 2023 contract from the beginning of 2024.

This year, stage clothes have already been handed over: State Academic Dass of Iliko Sukhishvili and Nino Ramishvili, Quintet “Urmuli” (physical person Nugzar Kavtaradze), Georgian State University of Theater and Cinema and World Folk Dance Choreographic Ensemble “Rokva”.

The Ministry of Culture selected these ensembles in cooperation with the Anzor Erkomaishvili State Folklore Center.
