‘Citizen Saint’ is a unique film, set in a city of miners where the residents have erected a statue of a saint on the main square. The movie, filmed with the support of the National Cinema Center of Georgia, unfolds as the saint resurrects and begins to live among humans, causing a stir in the city.

One day, a saint resurrects and begins to live next to humans, but this unusual event haunts the city, and no one knows how to act. Levan Berikashvili, Giorgi Babluani, Mari Kitia and Gia Burjanadze play the leading roles in the film.

‘Citizen Saint’ has garnered significant international recognition, winning several awards and being submitted on behalf of Georgia for the 2024 American Film Academy Awards for Foreign Language Film.

In 2023, the film participated in the main competition of the world’s oldest International Film Festival, Karlovy Vary, and was awarded the Ecumenical Jury Prize. The film was also nominated for the Asia Pacific Screen Awards, further highlighting its global appeal.

It was with the “Citizen Saint” that was closed in the December 2023 retrospective “Modern Georgian Cinema“, which was hosted by the Blue Hall of the Cinema Academy with the support of the National Cinema Center.

The film will be shown at the 77th Cannes International Film Festival this time.
