The conversation, which touched on security issues in the region, highlighted the strategic partnership between the two countries. This partnership, built on mutual respect and trust, is of great importance for the security and development of the region.

The meeting also gave attention to the format of the Peaceful Neighborhood Initiative proposed by Georgia, a promising initiative that has already shown positive results in promoting the peace process in the region.

Ministers reviewed the issues of intense bilateral cooperation between Georgian and Azerbaijan defense agencies. As Irakli Chikovani noted, the extensive experience gained over the years has significantly contributed to the development of the defense forces, both in the Republic of Azerbaijan and Georgia. Importantly, he highlighted that Azerbaijan and Georgia are not just strategic partners, but partners with a shared potential, capable of providing better well-being to their citizens.

The meeting also placed significant emphasis on the format of Azerbaijan-Turkey-Georgia trilateral cooperation, a crucial and important unified regional platform for the discussion of various issues. This platform serves as a testament to the strong and collaborative relationship between the three countries.

Before official meetings, the Minister of Defense honored and crowned the graves of Azerbaijan national leader Heydar Aliyev and his wife, academician Zarifa Aliyeva, in the “Alley of Honor” in Baku. Accompanied by the delegation, Irakli Chikovani also decorated the memory of those who died at the “Eternal Fire” memorial with flowers.
