Ceremonial reception of Georgian Independence Day takes place in Tokyo

Georgia: On the occasion of Georgia’s Independence Day, the Embassy of Georgia in Japan organized a ceremonial reception, which members of the Georgian delegation attended.

The Ambassador of Emergency and Plenipotentiary to Japan, Teimuraz Lezhava, his wife, foreign diplomats, and honored guests attended the event. The state academic ensemble “Basyan” performed Georgian and Japanese anthems.

Up to 1000 guests could listen to the ensemble “Basiani” and see the State Academic Ensemble of Kutaisi Song and Dance choreographic numbers.

As it is known, on June 15-16, under the initiative and organization of the Ministry of Culture and Sports of Georgia and with the support of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Georgia, the “Days of Georgia in Japan” will be held for the first time.

More than 100 artists and athletes participate in the events. During two days in Yoyogi Park, prominent Georgian art, culture, and sports representatives will represent our country. Folklore ensemble concerts, theater performances, sports competitions, an exhibition-sale of works by Georgian folklore artists, and more will be held in Tbilisi and the regions.

World and European champion and famous Georgian arm wrestler Levan Saginashvili will participate in the planned sports activities. Guests will also have the opportunity to meet him. It is also known as Georgian sumoist Levan Gorgadze (Tochinoshin) in Japan. It is meaningful for Georgian song and dance ensembles active in Japan and Japanese athletes to participate in the events.

“Days of Georgia in Japan” will be opened on June 15. Georgian dance ensembles “Japanese” and “Saphirons,” concerts of folk ensemble “Amphora” and performance of Melita Lomadze’s studio “Melita Dance Studio” will be held in Japan; exhibition and sale of works of Georgian retsvi masters (Minakari, gold, teka, batika, blue tables, papakhabi, Khevsuri embroidery and others). ); Sports competitions will be held in arm wrestling, karate, and khridol. Pantomime State Theater presents performances – “You are a Vineyard,“, ” Tiger Skin,” and others.” The evening will continue with the Georgian Folk Song State Academic Ensemble “Basiani” concert and the Kutaisi State Academic Ensemble of Song and Dance.

On June 16, concerts of ensembles – “Japanese” and “Sapphires” will be held again, the performance of Melita Lomadze’s studio “Melita Dance Studio,” exhibition-sale of works of Georgian craftsmen (Minakari, gold, teka, batik, blue tables, porcelain, Khevsuri embroidery and others. ) And competitions in arm wrestling, karate, khridol. Also, the Kutaisi Chamber Choir concert, named after Ioseb Kechakmadze, will be held. The days of culture will end with the concert of ethnojazzband “Iriaosa” and Neka Sebiskveradze.

Such events will help establish cultural and sports links between the two countries and introduce Georgian culture and sports traditions to Japanese people and Georgians living there.
