Thea Tsulukiani hosts meeting with the ensemble “Mdagvari”

Georgia: The Minister of Culture, Sports, and Youth of Georgia, Thea Tsulukiani, visited the ensemble “Mdagvarir” and heard their report on 30 years of activity.

The summary report was presented by Kakha Onashvili, the artistic director of the ensemble Mdagvari. Members of the ensemble presented Georgian folklore samples and foreign songs. For your information, “Mtazvari” represents a private ensemble, and it is not in the Ministry of Culture’s management sphere.

The Minister and the ensemble’s leadership discussed future plans and cooperation issues, thanked the ensemble members for their hard work, and wished them success.

It is worth noting that in May this year, with the support of the Ministry of Culture and Sports, a concert dedicated to the ensemble’s 30th anniversary was held at the Tbilisi Music and Cultural Center named after Jansugh Kakhidze. In front of the Tbilisi State Concert Hall, the star of “Powerful” and its founder, Tariel Onashvili, was opened.

Tariel Onashvili, the great master of Georgian-Kakhur songs and soloist-performer, and his son Kakha Onashvili set their goal to create a Georgian singing service. In 1994, under their leadership, the boys’ folk group “Mzadvari” was formed, and more than fifty young people could sing Georgian songs.

During its existence, “The Strongman” has won many victories and established the reputation of one of the best teams. Among the achievements are the first-degree diploma at the Republican festival “Golden Martve,” participation in the First World Youth defined, winning first place at the Tbilisi Folklore Festival, Georgian Folk Songs Festival and Festival “Future Voices,” Moscow Easter Festival Laureate, the prize for high performance of the Orthodox voices of Pomorie (Bulgaria) At the festival, successful performances in Macedonia, Latvia, Greece, Poland, Egypt, Germany, Switzerland And other countries.

There are up to 200 samples of vocal-recording music of different sides, genres, and complexity in the repertoire of “Powerful,” which intensely presents Georgian musical folklore.

Active participation in various band festivals has enriched the ensemble’s repertoire with professional and group music samples, shaping its classical academic band collective.

Along with the song chants, the works of Georgian composers are in the repertoire of the ensemble: Niko Sulkhanishvili, Otar Taktakishvili, Joseph Kechakmadze, Mamia Khatelishvili, Vakhtang Kakhidze, Misha Mdinaradze, Nana Gvelesiani, Liliko Nemsadze, and Tamar Salukvadze.
