Georgian Airports served 5,686,748 passengers till September 2024

According to data of GCAA 5,686,748 passengers were served by Georgian airports in the current year till september.

Tbilisi: Georgian airports have achieved another milestone by serving a huge number of air travellers. According to data, 5,686,748 passengers were served by Georgian airports in the current year till september.

The GCAA recently released this data. The Georgian Civil Aviation Authority revealed the latest data for this year: from January to September regular and non-regular flights served 5,686,748. The latest data  reflected that the present-year ratio is more than 26%  of last year’s, which is also 37% higher than the data for January- September 2019.

The data indicated that in the first nine months of 2024, Tbilisi International Airport served 3,622,830 passengers. This is an increase of 31% compared to the same period of 2023 and 22% compared to January-September 2019, respectively. At the same time 1,284,997 passengers were transported through Kutaisi International Airport.

The increase in passenger flow compared to the first nine months of 2023 is 6%. Compared to the same period in 2019, Kutaisi Airport served 104% more passengers in the first nine months of this year.

On the other hand the Batumi International Airport served 753,485 passengers. The increase compared to January-September 2023 is 43%  and compared to the first nine months of 2019 it is more than 44%.

It is worth noting that during the first nine months of the current year 24,348 flights were operated inwards and outwards from Georgian airports. Compared to the first nine months of 2023 the increase in flights was 25%, and compared to the same period of 2019 it was more than 26%.

The ministry officials and other representatives added that the tourism sector has played a greater role in attracting a large number of regional and international tourists.

Notably, the Prime Minister of Georgia also underlined the importance of tourism growth to the economy of Georgia. The GCCA official reiterated that efforts will be made to enhance the inflow of air travel to Georgian Tourism so that Georgia economy can grow in coming years.
