Tbilisi, Georgia: An exhibition dedicated to the 90th anniversary of the Georgian People’s Artist and Social Activist, Jemal Chkuaseli, was opened at the Art Palace of Culture Museum of Georgia. The exhibition was opened on May 20, 2025, on Tuesday, and was held with the support of the Georgian Ministry of Culture.
In July, this exhibition will be shifted to the Dadiani Palace, which is located in Zugdidi. The palace holds a museum and is located at the centre of the city.
The Ministry of Culture of Georgia posted the glimpses of the opening ceremony of the exhibition on its official Facebook Page on May 20. The Ministry also posted a small note along with the photographs.
The opening ceremony of the exhibition was attended by the Minister of Culture of Georgia, Tinatin Rukhadze. He addressed the participants with a welcome speech. During his speech, the Minister of Culture spoke about the merits of Jemal Chkuaseli in the case of preserving Georgian folklore.
According to him, “Erisioni” has been serving this business for more than 100 years and continues the best traditions. This polyphony isn’t just music. This is an integral part of our unity, statehood, culture, and our business card.
In his speech, Tinatin Rukhadze honours memory of Jemal Chkuaseli and expressed her warm gratitude towards the ensemble- Erisioni. He stated, Thank you, Erisioni, we love you, we hope for you. “Jemal Chkuaseli has served the greatest work in his life, and we have no right not to preserve it for the next generation, she added.
Key Highlights of the Exhibition
The exhibition features unique family photo and video material of the famous Lootbar and artist, stage chokha and costumes created by sculptor and painter Merab Berdzenishvili for the ensemble “Erisioni”.
A unique audio archive issued by the support of the Foundation “Georgian Choir” was presented to the audience. Notably, it includes up to 100 best Georgian songs performed by the ensemble “Erisioni” from the 80s of the last century.
