Georgia: The Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development, Mariam Kvrivishvili, congratulated TAV Airports company on its 20th anniversary of operation in Georgia.

During her speech at the event held at Tbilisi International Airport, the minister thanked the company’s leadership, local management, and employees for their efforts to strengthen the Georgian aviation sector.

“The aviation industry, civil aviation, has a very important key role in the development of our country’s economy. We are proud today as we look together at the aviation industry and the unprecedented growth of civil aviation. We have achieved this with joint effort, correct strategy, vision, action plan, and joint execution. Our cooperation is a very good and successful example of the private and public sectors, said the Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development.

As Mariam Kvrivishvili noted, for the first time in Georgia, today more than 70 international airlines operate in more than 120 direct routes, which is the result of a strategy based on diversification policy and is already reflected in the data of passenger and direct flights, including to European destinations.

According to the minister, about 37 percent of the more than 120 destinations completed from the three international airports of Georgia are completed to Europe during the 8 months of the current year.

Mariam Kvrivishvili noted,European countries are of exceptional, strategic importance for our country, directly in terms of tourism, as well as direct flights. This is the tangible result of consistent politics.”

‘Together we managed to bring global brands such asBritish AirwaysandEasyJetto Georgia at the end of last year. By doing so, we have added new, sustainable, stable, and fairly fast-growing direct destinations to the country, which generate additional tourist streams of buyers, she added.

“This will, then, be directly proportional to creating new jobs — both at and outside the airport, which are very important and increase the country’s budget revenues, the Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development said.

According to Mariam Kvrivishvili, diversification policy is based on the right marketing campaigns and infrastructure projects, and this comprehensive work has contributed to a record revenue of $ 4.4 billion from the tourism industry in 2024.

Mariam Kvrivishvili said,The current year is also particularly successful – record revenues from tourism, as well as record dynamics of growth of tourist streams. In 2025, the data of Passenger Cadets has already exceeded a record 5.6 million.”

“Our government continues to support major infrastructural projects that serve to develop the country’s transport sector, the Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development said. Representatives of the Diplomatic Corps, Aviation Sector, TAV Airports, and Groupe ADP participated in the event.
