Georgia: On the 14th day of the Paris Olympics, freestyle wrestler Geno Petriashvili (125) defended Georgia’s honor. The Georgian sportsman’s victory over Giorgi Meshvildishvili, who competed for Azerbaijan in the semi-final, was dominant, with a score of 7:0, showcasing his exceptional skills and determination.
It is to be noted that Geno Petriashvili won 11:0 with Ukrainian Oleksandr Khotsianivsky in the eighth final. In the quarter-final, he defeated Polish Robert Baran with a score of 9:2.
Geno Petriashvili’s track record is nothing short of impressive. He is the silver medalist of the Tokyo Olympics and the bronze medalist of the Rio Olympics. The athlete has won 3 gold, 2 silver, and three bronze medals in the World Championship and 2 gold, 5 silver, and three bronze medals in the European Championship.
Geno Petriashvili, the first deputy minister of culture and sports of Georgia, Joseph Bagaturia, attended the competition with the president of the National Olympic Committee, Leri Khabelov.
Geno Petriashvili will meet Iranian wrestler Amir Hossein Zare in the final on August 10. This match will be highly anticipated, as Petriashvili will fight for the gold medal. This will be his second time competing in the Olympic finals, adding to the event’s excitement.
