Tbilisi: Mikheli Sarjeladze, the Health minister of Georgia addressed the participants at the Turkish Medical World Congress. He discussed Georgia’s health program, which is being implemented to provide world-class health services.
The 10th health congress is being held in Istanbul, Turkey. Participants from all over the world are attending this congress to share their experiences about their country’s health sector.
The key speakers from all countries underlined the significance of health experts in natural disasters and other emergencies. They discussed the role of health sector employees in mitigating the negative effects of natural disasters.
It is worth noting that for many years, under the rule of the Georgian Dream the health sector of Georgia passed through various phases to achieve improvements. At the same time the Minister added that Georgia has implemented many innovative technologies in the health sector.
He further disclosed how Georgia’s integrated electronic disease surveillance system effectively helped the Government respond quickly to emergencies during the duration of COVID-19.
According to the minister this integrated disease monitoring system helps all the agencies streamline their collective efforts. This helps all health sector employees manage and control cases of COVID-19.
Notably the World Health Organization has also recognized the active role of the Georgian health ministry during COVID-19 and many other regional and international organizations in the health sector have also recognized this role.
The Minister on this occasion expressed gratitude to the World Health Organization for helping Georgia to develop the national action plan on health security. Georgia will implement this health plan by the end of this year to strengthen its emergency preparedness.
The attendees of this 10th health congress also include WHO officials and experts from different countries around the world. They come together on a single platform to discuss the challenges to the health sector of their country or world health.
The main topics of discussion in this include disease prevention measures, health disaster management and future plans for tackling health crises.
