The Minister of Internally Displaced Persons, Labor, Health and Social Affairs from the Occupied Territories of Georgia is paying an official visit to Switzerland.
Zurab Azarashvili attended the opening of the World Health Assembly in Geneva. The main theme for this year’s Health Assembly is “Health for Peace, Peace for Health”.
The Minister of Health will also deliver a speech at the 75th Assembly. It is the first in-person Health Assembly since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Together with Zurab Azarashvili, First Deputy Minister Tamar Gabunia and Alexander Maisuradze, Permanent Representative of Georgia to the UN Office in Geneva and other international organizations, will take part in official meetings.
During the visit, the Minister of Health of Georgia met with the Regional Director for Europe of the World Health Organization. The Minister thanked Hans Kluge for the assistance provided to Georgia by WHO and stressed that the World Health Organization is an important partner of Georgia.
At the bilateral meeting, the parties discussed joint projects and issues of future cooperation. The conversation focused on the assistance of the World Health Organization and the involvement of their experts in strengthening the Georgian healthcare system.
In view of the ongoing Coronavirus pandemic, in-person participants are requested to wear face masks and perform a daily rapid antigen self-test.
