Tbilisi, Georgia: The Georgian judo team competes with top international teams at the 2026 Tbilisi Grand Slam, held from March 20–22 at the Olympic Palace in Tbilisi. A total of 386 judoists from 51 countries take to the tatami, and athletes from eight countries win gold medals. The Georgian national anthem is sung twice in celebration of the team’s victories.

The Georgian team achieves its best results in the 90 kg and heavyweight categories. Luka Maisuradze wins the first gold medal for Georgia in the -90 kg category. Entering the competition from the second round, he defeats opponents from Lithuania, Serbia, Belgium, and Uzbekistan to reach the final, where he overcomes Serbian Nemania Maidov with Iuko in a golden point match.
In the same weight category, Luka Javakhishvili secures a bronze medal after defeating his teammate Akaki Japaridze in the match for third place.
Irakli Demetrashvili earns the second gold medal for Georgia in the heavyweight category. Entering from the second round, he defeats opponents from Poland, Cyprus, and the Netherlands, and triumphs over German Losen Kone by Ipon in the gold medal match.
Saba Inaneishvili wins a bronze medal in the heavyweight category, defeating Russian Artio Zolotukhin with Vazar in a decisive match. Additional bronze medals go to Tornike Gigauri (-66 kg) and Giorgi Loladze (-73 kg).
