Texas, USA: The team of wounded soldiers of the Ministry of Defense of Georgia returned with a worthy victory from the Air Force and Marine Games held in Texas, USA on March 23, 2025, Sunday. It should be added that the georgian military sportsmen won 18 gold, 11 silver, and 5 bronze medals.
The Ministry of Defense of Georgia posted a video of the welcoming ceremony for the injured soldiers on its official Facebook page on Monday, March 24, 2025. The Ministry also shared some information along with the video.
According to the details provided by the Ministry, it should be noted that the 2025 Air Force and Marine Games is a Paralympic-style event for wounded, ill, or injured service members. The event was hosted by the Marine Corps Wounded Warrior Regiment and the Air Force Wounded Warrior Program and it was held at the Air Force Military Base in San Antonio, Texas.
According to the Ministry’s posted video, it should be noted that the Military athletes at Tbilisi International Airport were greeted by the First Deputy Minister of Defense Paata Patiashvili, Deputy Commander of Defense Forces, Brigadier General Irakli Chichinadze, and Head of Social Affairs and Psychological Support Department Irakli Ujmajuridze, congratulated them on their worthy victory and thanked them for their successful competition.
It is noteworthy that the georgian military par-athletes competed in individual and team sports, such as archery, cycling, throwing, weightlifting, swimming, running, shooting with a pistol and pistol, sitting basketball, and sitting volleyball.
The goal of the parasport event is to share experiences among wounded and injured servicemen in overcoming issues, build confidence and self-esteem, and establish communication with wounded and injured service personnel from other countries, which promotes their rehabilitation and socialization.
