Georgia: The Public Ombudsman of Georgia addresses the strike of Evolution of Georgia LLC employees, which is planned for July 12th of this year. According to information, up to 4,600 employees will join the company.

The employees have a defaming attitude towards the company and claims related to decent working conditions.

In view of the limited mandate on the protection of labor rights in the private sector, the Ombudsman addresses this issue in a statement and emphasizes the importance of ensuring that employers unavoidably protect the labor rights of employees.

A healthy and safe working environment and decent remuneration for labor are integral parts of labor rights, which depend on a person’s respectable life.

It should be noted that the Social Card of Europe, supported by Georgia, recognizes the right of all workers to have safe, fair working conditions and adequate, fair remuneration for labor, which ensures a decent standard of life for them and their families.

Unfortunately, as public defender practice testifies, requesting employees to improve their working conditions or criticizing their work is generally perceived as unacceptable by employers and is often based on harassment, dismissal, or other violations of their labor rights because of employer disagreements.

Given the approximate scale of the announced strike, in this case, the Public Ombudsman of Georgia calls on Evolution Georgia” LLC to establish active communication with employees regarding the problematic issues they raise, use every opportunity to reach a consensus, and refrain from acts that violate employees’ dignity.

As it is known for the Georgian Public Defender’s Apparatus, the Labor Inspection Service has begun investigating the “Evolution Georgia” LLC issue. We hope that the Labour Inspectorate will investigate the problem thoroughly and in every way and make a decision within a short time frame.
