The Parliament of Georgia discussed the bill “Amendments to the Code of Georgian Spatial Planning, Architectural and Construction Activities” and supported it with 81 votes at the third hearing.

Levan Machavariani, one of the initiators of the draft law, the first deputy chairman of the faction “Georgian Dream”, presented the issue at the plenary session.
The draft law defines regulations related to cultural heritage objects and protected zones within the administrative boundaries of Tbilisi Municipality.
According to the current editorial, if construction is carried out or works on a cultural heritage immovable monument in the administrative boundaries of the city of Tbilisi, the period of the construction permit has expired and the construction/rehabilitation is not finished or unauthorized construction has not been implemented, public supervision of construction Enforcement Authority violates a 90-day deadline for obtaining proper consent/permission Or to correct this violation.
The amendments specify that the special rule provided by the Code shall apply to research and rehabilitation work carried out on the Cultural Heritage Site, as well as to Class I works carried out in the Cultural Heritage Protection Zone and unauthorized construction only if the area of a new building or an additional area of an existing building does not exceed 10 square meters.
In addition, there is an exception, according to which the mentioned restriction will not apply to the construction carried out within the framework of accidental building-debris replacement and/or city building event if it is implemented by the City of Tbilisi City Hall or a legal entity established by the municipality.
