Georgian PM calls for stronger bilateral relations during visit to Germany

Irakli Kobakhidze the prime minister of Georgia calls for stronger, stable bilateral relations during his visit to Germany. He also raised many other important issues during the meeting with Germany’s president Frank Walter Steinmeier.

According to Georgia’s PM the role of Germany is very important for the institutional and socio-economic development of Georgia. It is worth mentioning here that since the 90’s era Germany is played a very vital role in the economic development of Georgia. Both countries also share many cultural and historical values.

During his meeting with Germany’s PM, Irakli Kobakhidze underlined the importance Germany’ suppot for European and Euro-Atlantic integration of his country. He also emphasized last year’s grant of candidate status to Georgia by the European Union which is being seen as a step closer to the European integration of the country as a full-fledged member.

PM at the bilateral meeting also stated that the support of Germany is very important during the negotiation on Europan integration. He further stated “We are extremely grateful for Germany’s valuable support, this is the 1st European country after Belgium that I visit as the Prime Minister of Georgia. This is not a coincidence but rather an example of the stable relation between both the countries ”.

The PM also said “ We know that Germany’s position played an important role in positively shaping the relevant decision during the EU candidtate status. Moreover, we have high hopes that close cooperation between Germany and Georgia will continue in all aspects in terms of our country’s European integration and in terms of the development of our bilateral relations in the coming years”.

“Today we had a conversation almost on all areas of our cooperation. These include political, economic, defense, and security cooperation. Absolutely all dimensions of our cooperation are important for us and we are sure that close cooperation will continue in the future” added the Georgian PM.
