Tbilisi: The Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze chaired meeting of new cabinet members. He congratulated all newly elected minister and asked them to work wholeheartedly for smooth and effective working of their ministries.
Prime Minister took to his social media handles to shares glimpses of this important meetings as well. The official Facebook post of Prime Minster stated that, “The new Georgian government held its first session today. I congratulated the members of the Cabinet of Ministers on the vote of confidence by the Georgian people and the Parliament of Georgia and noted that this imposes on the government the responsibility to take maximum care of the country’s development.”
PM in his address to new members underlined that, I spoke about the main directions of the government program. I noted that our goal is to grow the country’s economy to 130 billion GEL in 4 years.
Accordingly the country’s budget will also increase. If last year’s budget was 28 billion GEL, in 4 years our budget will be more than 40 billion GEL; 200,000 new jobs will be created also.
According to him, We have very ambitious plans for the construction and expansion of airports, the Anaklia project the modernization of the railway, the Black Sea cable project are some examples. In 4 years, electricity generation should exceed 8,000 megawatts.
A very large investment should be made in both school and higher and vocational education. The importance of patriotism, patriotic upbringing and awareness of one’s own national identity was minimized in the national curriculum and this, unfortunately has resulted in many losses.”
He also said, nothing is too late and everything will be done to pay due attention to the proper upbringing and provision of proper education to our children and students. Depoliticization of schools is very important. In 4 years we will have a qualitatively improved environment for our students and a qualitatively improved quality of education.
PM also spoke about the priority of developing the healthcare system and multifunctional sports infrastructure. He emphasized that Georgia’s foreign policy priority is integration into the European Union.
According to the PM as per election program more than 90% of the obligations stipulated in the Association Agenda and the Free Trade Agreement should be fulfilled by 2028 and this promise will be fulfilled faithfully.
