The Georgian Prime Minister, “Irakli Garibashvili” met with the special representatives of the European Union and EU member countries on Eastern Partnership.
At the meeting held in the government administration, they discussed Georgia’s Euro-integration and summarized the progress made by the country on this road.
The Prime Minister emphasized the importance of the Eastern Partnership and noted that from the day of its establishment, the Eastern Partnership has been a strong mechanism for Georgia, to successfully continue the process of Euro-integration, close economic proximity to the EU and to achieve tangible progress in this direction.
According to Irakli Gharibashvili, association agreement; deep and comprehensive trade area; visa-free entry regime; enhanced cooperation in the fields of security, energy and transport are the tangible results that Georgia has achieved on the way to Euro-integration.
At the meeting, EU Special Representative for the Eastern Partnership Dirk Schubel noted that in terms of future steps both – Ukraine and Moldova – could use the Eastern Partnership well in the future.
The Head of Government discussed the dynamics of implementation of 12 recommendations with the Special Representatives of the EU and EU Member States and noted that Georgia is making progress in all directions and that the government has done its best to implement the recommendations.
Irakli Garibashvili expressed hope that Georgia’s efforts to implement 12 priority reforms will be properly reflected in the European Commission report and that the European Commission will recommend granting candidate status to Georgia.
As the Head of Government noted, the visit of the delegation representing up to 20 member countries of the European Union is a clear demonstration of the EU’s support for Georgia’s European future.
According to him, Georgia has advanced positions on the road to European integration, as evidenced by reports published by the European Union. Irakli Garibashvili thanked the special representatives of the European Union and EU member countries for supporting Georgia’s European future.
