The Prime Minister of Georgia, Irakli Kobakhidze, together with President Mikheil Kavelashvili, got acquainted with the ongoing measures and challenges to solve the problems caused by heavy snowfall in Imereti region on February 27, 2025, Thursday.
The Prime Minister shared the snippets of the meeting on his official Facebook page on the same day. He also shared a small note about the meeting along with the photographs.
Within the framework of the meeting, the Georgian PM also met with the Coordination staff and also got detailed information on road clearing works and existing needs.
According to the Prime Minister’s note, it should be noted that the road clearing works in the region are actively underway, but there are still a few villages in the high area where access is still not possible. For this purpose, the decision was made to mobilize additional special equipment in the region at the headquarters meeting.
It was noted that as soon as the roads are cleared, electricity and gas restoration work will begin for subscribers whose services are not provided due to the heavy snowfall at this stage.
Notably, most subscribers are disconnected in Samtredia and Vani municipalities. As a result of the work carried out last night, electricity has been restored to 6,000 subscribers, and by the end of the day, the region will be on. Intensive work will continue to restore electricity in Vani Municipality, where electricity is not provided to up to 6 thousand subscribers.
According to the Prime Minister, it should be noted that to solve the problems caused by heavy snowfall in the region in the shortest possible time, all relevant authorities both at central and local levels are mobilized. Defense Forces, Emergency Management Service, and Emergency Medical Brigade are actively involved in the process.
