Tbilisi, Georgia: The Prosecutor’s Office of Georgia has charged one person with premeditated murder, illegal purchase, possession, and carrying of firearms, and illegal purchase, possession, and carrying of narcotics in Tbilisi.
The Georgian Prosecutor’s Office shared the details of this crime on its official Facebook page on January 2, 2026, Friday. According to the details, it was noted that the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia conducted an in-depth investigation into this case.
Cause of charges
According to the investigation conducted by the Ministry of Internal Affairs, it has been established that on December 31, in Tbilisi, on the territory of Zurab Avalishvili street, the defendant injured the victim with a firearm, who died at the scene of the incident. The accused was also illegally holding large quantities of drugs, “Methadone”.
Criminal charges were laid against the suspect
The Law enforcement officers arrested the accused on the same day. He was charged under Article 108 (intentional murder), Parts 3 and 4 of Article 236 (illegal acquisition, storage, carrying of firearms) and Subsection “a” of Part 2 of Article 260 (illegal acquisition and storage of a large amount of narcotic drugs) of the Criminal Code of Georgia, which provides for imprisonment for up to 15 years as a form and measure of punishment.
Notably, there is huge public support for the law enforcement agency for these drives to make the country drug-free, and it should also be noted that the Prosecutor’s Office will also apply to the Court within the time limit established by law with a motion to impose imprisonment on the defendant as a preventive measure.
