Georgia: The representative of the Scientific and Research Center of SIP Agriculture attended an intensive course of qualification upgrade in Italy on September 5, 2025, Friday.
The Scientific Research Center for Agriculture (SRCA) shared the glimpses of the event held in Italy on its official Facebook Page on Friday. A small note of information related to the event was posted along with its photographs.
Tekle Zakalashvili, head of microclonic (in vitro) reproduction and non-virus fertilizer material research service, took part in an intensive course in the modern technologies of vineyard in Coneliano, Italy.
The course aimed to study modern technologies and innovative methods of vineyard. The course covered key aspects of vineyard gardening, including:
- drought resilience to vineyards,
- the latest approaches to managing irrigation regimes, Â
- The impact of climate change on plant growth and development.
The laboratory unit focused on modern methods of taking callus crops, GMO crop transfer technologies, and the process of post-plant acclimatization.
Innovative technologies play an important role in the production of high-quality, virus-free seedling material, which ensures the creation of healthy seedlings and significantly increases the sustainability of the vineyard sector, which in turn helps to protect the genetic diversity of local Georgian vine varieties and plant sustainability in Georgia.
The training was hosted by the leading Italian scientific-research institute – CREA (Council for Agricultural Research and Economics), whose activities include the study of agriculture, the agrarian sector, and the economy.
The organization actively conducts meetings, seminars, and training courses on modern agrarian fields, including special qualification courses, to promote the dissemination of knowledge and best practices both in Italy and internationally.
The visit of the young scientist was made with the financial support of the International Education Center.
