Georgia: Ivane Abashidze, the director of the Maritime Transport Agency of Georgia, met with Georgian sailors, who have successfully passed their certification and were awarded the titles of Captain and Senior Mechanic.
Ivane Abashidze congratulated the sailors for their career advancement and emphasized their important role in the development of the country’s maritime sector.
The Maritime Transport Agency of Georgia shared the glimpses of the meeting on its Official Facebook Page on November 12, 2025, Wednesday. The Agency also shared some information related to the meeting, along with its glimpses.
The Maritime Transport Agency of Georgia awarded the title of Captain to Amiran Shervashidze, Vladimir Meroyani and Archil Kakhidze, and to Batu Verdzadze and Jimsher Beridze was given the title of senior mechanic.
“The main support force of Georgian maritime sphere are sailors. Their hard work, professionalism and responsibility define our image as a reliable maritime country in the international arena. The professional development, well-being and safe working environment of each sailor are of utmost importance to the agency,” – noted Ivane Abashidze.
The meeting focused on improving the seaman’s education and certification system, including implementation of modern standards of training and training. The discussion also touched on the practical issues of seafarers and the challenges associated with ensuring safety and effective operations on the ship.
The representatives of the agency emphasized the importance of close cooperation with International Maritime Organizations (IMO), which ensures Georgian sailors’ certificates are recognized and their competitiveness in the global market.
The meeting with the sailors were also attended by Tamaz Imerlishvili, Deputy Director of the Maritime Transport Agency and David Jincharadze, the head of the Maritime Department.
