Seven Georgian athletes competed on the opening day of the 18th European Youth Olympic Festival held in Skopje on July 21, 2025. Among them were swimmers Anastasia Mikelashvili and Sally Shcherbaeva, who participated in the 100-meter freestyle event.
The Georgian National Olympic Committee (GNOC) shared the glimpses of the competition on its official Facebook page on Monday, July 21, 2025. A small note about the competition was also shared along with its photographs.
According to the short note shared by GNOC, it is worth noting that Anastasia finished with a time of 1:01.31, while Sally clocked in at 1:02.33. Despite their efforts, neither swimmer advanced to the semi-finals.
Long jumper Lizi Mughalashvili, who was in the second group with twelve competitors, competed in the top competitions. His best result was 5 meters; unfortunately, he couldn’t reach the qualification stage and was not able to compete for the medal.
Badminton players Daniel Vagarshakiani and Ketevan Tsamalaidze competed today. Daniel Vagarshakiani held two matches of the group stage. In the first match, his opponent was Spanish. The opponent won in two sets – 21:10 and 21:11. A few hours later, Daniel faced a German rival.
This match ended in favor of the opponent, 5:21 and 11:21. Daniel has two more matches left in the group, which he will play tomorrow. Ketevan Tsamalaidze lost with a Hungarian opponent 6:21 and 4:21. He’s facing three confrontations tomorrow.
Couples won medals today in bullet shooting at 10 meters from a pneumatic pistol. Lizi Agniashvili and Sandro Khositashvili competed for the Georgian team. In the first qualifying stage, they scored 381.8 points and took 12th place among twenty-two pairs. Lizi and Sandro are expecting a personal championship tomorrow at the same distance.
On the second competition day of,, Skopje 2025″: Table tennis players – Nikoloz Chkhartishvili and Mariam Gorgadze, swimmers -Sali Shcherbaeva, bullet shooters – Sandro Khositashvili and Lizi Agniashvili, judoists – Saba Bolkvadze and Alexi Gulua, cyclists – Luka Mazmishvili, Mate Firanishvili and Zura Kiladze.
