Tbilisi: According to the latest data released by the Georgian National Wine Agency of Georgia the export of Georgian wine to the United States of America and other European countries witnessed significant growth. The first quarter of the current year recorded the export of 54.5 million liters of wine.
According to the information in the first six months of 2024, 54.5 million liters of wine worth 156.7 million USD were exported from Georgia to 61 countries worldwide. These data show that compared to the same period last year this was a quantitative growth of 26% and the income growth was 24% which proved to be the biggest boost for the country’s domestic economic sector.
At the same time Data revealed that the increase in exports is notable in many regional and international countries including Poland—19% (3.1 million liters), USA—53% (654 thousand liters), Germany—34% (674 thousand liters), Great Britain—28% (182.5 thousand liters ), Canada—110% (121.3 thousand liters), Turkey—47% (239.2 thousand liters), etc.
On the other hand 23.4 million liters of alcoholic beverages were exported to 45 countries which is an increase of 55% compared to the same period last year. Moreover 132.8 million US dollars were received as revenues from the export of alcoholic beverages (an increase of 59%).
Georgia’s wine industry has gone through many phases to reach the highest level. The country known as the homeland of wine has introduced many changes in recent years to expand the market worldwide. The major market of Georgia wine may be Russia, but with the passage of time and efforts of the National Wine Agency, the country successfully expanded the market in other countries as well.
It is to be noted that the export to the Russia declined due to diversification of wine export to other countriss of the world which increased the revenue from the wine exports for the Georgia. Georgian wine exports is dominated by red wine which constitutes 75 percent of the country’s wine exports.
