With the support of the National Wine Agency and Association “Georgian Wine,” 20 Georgian wine producer companies participated in the Merano Wine Festival in Italy.
This event has existed since 1992 and is celebrated every year. This year, the Merano Wine Festival is celebrated in Italy from 8 to 12 November. The event combines fine wine and culinary delights to create a stimulating atmosphere for exchange and dialogue between wine lovers, producers, and trade experts.
The event will include an exhibition of wines from all over Italy and the World, distinguished by high quality, unique production techniques, and expressive excellence.
During the festival, a large-scale tasting of Georgian wine was also held. Wines from different settlements were presented, including those that won in the international competition of Kaveri wine and Saperavi. Wine professionals and journalists attended the event. Italian sommelier Guido Invernitzi led the tasting.
“Tasting a wine with an 8000-year-old establishment history is fascinating.” Georgian wine is becoming more and more famous in the world, which indicates its high quality. Both traditional and modern methods of setting wine are found in Georgia. The last time I was in Georgia, I tasted the wines of Racha-Lechkhumi Alexandroli and Mujuretuli. “I still remember its taste; I hope to find this kind of wine here, too,” said Guido Invernici, a member of the Italian Sommelier Association.
The 33-year-old Merano Wine Festival is one of the most prominent festivals worldwide, attended by European wine producers, experts, and journalists.
The positioning of mulled wine at this festival is very important because it shows that Georgia, recognized as the motherland of wine, has an 8,000-year history of wine production, still holds a worthy place in the world markets, and is constantly developing.
It is noted that in 2022, during the Merano Wine Festival, Georgian Kevri, as a UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage Monument, was placed in the center of one of the oldest cities in Italy.
