Georgia: The high growth trend of Georgia’s economy continued in the first half of 2025. Economic growth in the first quarter of the year was 9.8%, in April and May, it was 7.5%, and in June, it was 6.3%.
The Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia shared this information through its social media handles on July 31, 2025, Thursday. According to the information shared by the Ministry, it was also noted that overall, the average economic growth of January-June 2025 was determined by 8.3%.
Positive trends and high economic growth in Georgia’s economy indicate that, despite external shocks, geopolitical tensions, and challenges, it remains resilient and develops steadily. In addition, it is important that the growth trend will be fixed in June 2025, in the turnover index of VAT-paying enterprises, which has increased 8.7% compared to the previous month’s index, and the number of newly registered enterprises reached 6,188 units.
In June 2025, the growth of economic activity in the following sectors: information and communication; education; manufacturing, finance and insurance, and transport and startups has made a significant positive contribution to economic growth. In addition, the positive trends for foreign trade have contributed to high economic growth in June – exports grew by 10.4% to 640.2 million US dollars, while local exports (excluding export re-exports) grew by 8.4%.
In the second quarter of 2025, travel (tourism) revenues also increased by 5.0% annually and reached a record volume in the second quarter, 1,145.0 million US dollars. It’s a buck.
According to the assessment of international financial institutions and rating companies, Georgia’s economy remains resilient as a result of prudent macroeconomic policies.
Notably, the International Monetary Fund forecasts that, between the region and European countries, Georgia will have the highest economic growth in the medium term, 2025-2030, and an average of 5.4%.
It should be noted that in 2024, Georgia’s economic growth was 9.4 percent – Georgia had one of the highest economic growth rates globally last year and ranked third in the world in terms of economic growth.
